Quiznos Sub at Jaya Shopping Center

Quiznos Sub Malaysia

Quiznos Sub first opened their doors in Malaysia years back and is still serving fresh and quality ingredients with all their recipes for bread, soup, and dressings developed in house so know that the flavour profile will be distinctly exclusive. And just like every other sandwich outlet, toasted sandwiches have long been practiced since it’s been heard off. Yet what sets them apart from many and mainly their main competitors is the fact that the whole sandwich is toasted and that the crunchy sensation is exquisitely memorable. Speaking of crunchy sensation, the bread on the pizza is nothing doughy or bread alike. Thin crust almost crackling crunchy was a stealer.

This sandwich kiosk offers a comprehensive best for on the go or takeaway including sandwiches, pizzas, waffle fries and soups for any seeking the comforting warm and creamy start. But the astounding selection has never been any closer to our heart when they roll out their recent highlight – The Laksa Sub. That’s right you heard it right and you hear it first here on foodeverywhere. Who needs a bowl when you can have laksa in a sub? Big chucks of real chicken meat with succulent and juicy bites and the tang that’s tantalising, this one just will just leave you astoundingly anticipating their next season menu – the green curry. Look out for that as well.

4.Quiznos Sub

Quiznos Sub scores points for its smart packaging, and for the quality of their servings if not the quantity, though the fillings tuna evoke a sense of déjà vu. The bread though, invariably has a crispier outer crunch, tastes fresh. Mesquite chicken comes with the generous tiles of moist, tender chicken, cheddar cheese, tomato, onion, lettuce and ranch dressing. Choose between sub or pizza and pay RM 12.20 or RM 18.80 for either a 4 inch or a 8 inch sub and RM 13.10 for this as a pizza. Tuna sub here with a choice of wheat bread here has tuna, cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce and red vinaigrette. And for all the meat monsters out there, fret not because there is the zesty steak to load up that protein in your meal. This one has got steak, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, onion, mushroom, sweet honey mustard and zesty grille sauce.

Those or the Classic Italian with rosemary parmesan bread. This best seller comes with the chicken ham, beef salami, beef pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, tomato, onion, olive, lettuce and red vinaigrette. Pay about RM8.40 for a 4 inch and RM13.10 for a 8 inch for a sub or go with the pizza for RM 9.30.

Appreciate this healthier grab and go option with all the fine and premium ingredients and skip the frizzy drink if you can. This certainly is a cleaner meal at any time of the day.

Wayback Burger at the Melawati Mall

Wayback Burger has landed in Malaysia and its first outlet is located at the very convenient mall in Melawati. Apart from the many fnbs that I’ve reviewed for the recent foodieville, there is no way I would let this slide and this one is the exciting one that I was really looking forward to during the restaurant hopping session. Originated from none other than where burger consumption is comforting, this America fast casual restaurant chain based in Cheshire, Connecticut serves burgers and hotdogs, as well as milkshakes.

1.wayback burger

With an open kitchen parading and showcasing the flow of your burger preparation right from where the meats are grinded and patties are grilled and assembled into stacks and layers of meats and cheese and buns and lettuces. Served with their fresh potato chips, every bite of the burger will be elevated with the texture of those crispy chips.

2.wayback burger

7. Wayback Burger Malaysia

Meat is very fresh and delicious when I had it, and the buns are what’s different from many burger chains in town. In fact, they are probably the few that does their burger buns in such. Burger bun is grilled with butter and inverted so be ready to have all fingers greasy when eating the Cheeeesy Burger (RM 22.99). This is the signature and with double patties and 4 slices of cheddar cheese, you either love the flavours or you hate it.

4.wayback burger Malaysia

Their House Made Chips (RM 12.99) are fantastic because of the thickness of each piece of chips. The crispy and natural flavour of real potato is fabulous. I get to try the Alaska Pollock Fish fillet that’s supposed to go in between buns alongside with tartar sauce and lettuce in their WB Fish (RM 12.99), but I didn’t quite enjoy it. The Chicken Wings (RM8.90 for 4pcs or RM 11.90 for 6pcs) is some extra selection for add on at communal dining. There is smoke bbq sauce, hot sauce, Wayback gold sauce and the chili padi sauce to choose from. I tried the chili padi sauce and I can personally tell you this- it wasn’t spicy at all when in the mouth but the throat burns after.

UK’s Burger and Lobster in Malaysia (Sky Avenue Genting Highland)

I thought we’ve reached peak lobster and burger but when the famous UK chain Burger and Lobster made their way to Malaysia, I was all excited again and what better place to host this restaurant than the all new revamped Genting Highland’s Sky Avenue. With an exciting facelift, the resort is now looking fabulous with this particular space elegantly decked with interior and panel partitions, filled with neon red lights which exude a warm and contemporary ambiance.

2.UK’s Burger and Lobster in Malaysia (Sky Avenue Genting Highland)
3.UK’s Burger and Lobster in Malaysia (Sky Avenue Genting Highland)
4.UK’s Burger and Lobster in Malaysia (Sky Avenue Genting Highland)

Get your claws into their single page, nine items food menu and while this eatery represents remarkable swanky dining experience, it was nothing close to anything of a good value for money. The menu was simple; with either beef burger or lobster either steamed or grilled to offer, and all dishes are accompanied by chips and salad. Lobsters are plump and juicy, with inconsistent bounce but the price of RM 168 for your Chili lobster served with their signature brioche and no chips or salad, this one represents Malaysia well to be that exclusive variant available only in Malaysia outlet but I sure hope a fresher lobster in my claypot.

5.UK’s Burger and Lobster in Malaysia (Sky Avenue Genting Highland)

The rolls are better, this one is The Original (RM 138) with Japanese mayonnaise and because it’s served chilled in their signature brioche roll, it worked for me. The simplicity of the dish while absurd for what is a fairly average meal- cut neatly [ast the usual seafood meal pricing is what bothers me when it comes to recommending it to my readers.

Burgers & Lobster in Malaysia
7.UK’s Burger and Lobster in Malaysia (Sky Avenue Genting Highland)

If you’d like to make an evening of it, do the meal with cocktails and booze. Burgers looked fine with that substantial salad and chips. But then again, based on the lobster experience, food solely is the last thing that would offer satisfying experience in whole.

8.UK’s Burger and Lobster in Malaysia (Sky Avenue Genting Highland)

So what you are actually paying for is the dining experience of seafood at high altitudeof 6000ft in the hills with lobsters transported from Canada, an identical theme of Burgers and Lobsters in London and that Chili Lobster dish only available at the Resorts World Genting. Tourists would love everything about it, especially now that the Ringgit is weaker in value but for the locals to travel solely for this, I’d say you put on your lobster bib somewhere else.

Buns Burger Bar @ Hartamas

In recent years, we’ve seen the meteoric ascent of burger trend with burger joints putting fancy spin on the humble patty sandwich. Buns at Hartamas was one that stayed to have proven to survived furious debate among burger aficionados in town and ultimately won hearts with a blend of fresh patty on fluffy buns. There is no way to crown the city’s most delicious burger but time has proven that this little burger joint with cosy and comfortable dining interior has earned approval from fellow diners. Burgers are creative, with good use of lovely mix of herbs.

1. Buns@ Hartamas

Scampi-Dory (RM 17)- Battered dory fillet, scampi prawns, apple salad, lemon mint mayo

Buns @ hartamas

Chick (RM 16)- Lemon and thyme thigh, crackling skin, arugula, garlic rosemary mayo

3. buns @hartams

Shroom (RM 16)-Portebello cap, capsicum slices, lettuce, tomato, sriracha mayo

Burgers aren’t the only charming selections here at the Buns, Honey Bacon Carbonara (RM 17) was at the perfect serving portion, each bite perfectly coated with parmesan cheese sauce, and with the delightful addition of arugula, classes things up.

4. Buns @ hartamas

When it comes to their small plates, Lamb meatballs (RM 14) didn’t have the musky, at the same time were juicy in all that tomato but this didn’t quite leave too much impression. Not as much as the Creamy Mussels (RM 15). They were perfect for communal dining.

5. Buns @ hartamas
6. Buns Hartamas

Their House salad (RM10) serves a gorgeous and colourful mélange of leaves, herbs, sweet cherry tomatoes, and a whole load of goodness, packed in between tender and juicy bites of chicken strips.

7. Buns @ Hartamas

Beverages and dessert isn’t drawing much attention but is definitely a crowd pleaser. Serving cakes by Swich, be rest assured that the flavour will be filed with plenty of surprises that are always intriguing. Small but compact, beverage menu offers soft drinks to beers, coffee and teas, and fresh juices.

Buns Burger Bar at Hartamas has got more than just burgers to offer that’s for sure, but the burger section is definitely worth your focus. Also worthy of a little of our attention is the comfortable and cosy dining lounge.

Halia Inc @ Melaka

A fine premise and perfectly located along the popular river in Melaka, Halia Inc stood beautifully with robust feature and conveniently fire up quite an extensive range of dishes to offer. From something you can stop by just to munch because a main meal is absurd when aplenty of local delights are within close proximity or solely for a drink to tackle the heat in this UNESCO heritage town, to meals of bigger serving size, browsing the menu is enjoyable. And, lazing around the outdoor patio is very relaxing. The spacious cafe provides the perfect ambiance to start the day off right with a cuppa as you bask in to good life.

5.Halia Inc @ Melaka

Alas, we didn’t enjoy the food as much as we did browsing through their wide menu. Fusing local flavours to French fries, their Commando chips (RM 12) would be more of a delight if fresher but credits go the peanut anchovies being addictive to munch continuously.

6.Halia Inc @ Melaka

There are burgers and sandwiches, and serving a 120g patty, the Halia inc beef cheese burger (RM 26) serves burger accompanied by French fries, mainly to mop up any fallen casualties. With mayonnaise, cucumber and tomato slices, and lettuce between a long bun, this supposedly creates a delectable bite. Alas, the loose patty was a mess to eat when chunks of meat falls apart so easily.

7.Halia Inc @ Melaka
8.Halia Inc @ Melaka

Thank goodness their Korean Fried Chicken with Tangy Green Apple Salad (RM 18) made a redemption, mainly with the green apple salad that’s sweet and crunchy.

9.Halia Inc @ Melaka

They don’t have an eclectic beverage menu but they do have an espresso bar. Latte (RM 10), Cappuccino (RM 10), Matcha latte (RM 10), and Affogato with salted Gula Melaka ice cream (RM 15) were ordinary despite some extra effort in the later. The flavour and fragrance from the Gula melaka weren’t prominent to earn any extra appraisal.

The Grind Burger Bar @ Seksyen 19

The Grind Burger Bar at Seksyen 19 is one of those many burger joints that popped during when gourmet burgers started getting its spotlight in town. The trend and burger hyped started and it was then blossoming and growing perpetually. With so much burger joints in town, it is getting tough to actually decide which one prevails as the champion and the best amongst them all. One thing for certain is that the burger joints each have their specialty and one can never have the best of everything under one roof. And with very limited parking bay around, this probably cuts them short compared to those with ample amount of parking bays.

1.grind burger bar (24)

Starting with the famous Onion Rings of theirs, I must agree that they have really decent and relatively good onion rings. Not greasy at all, and I love the texture right from inside out. Selling at RM 9, this would serve perfect as a sharing starter.

2.grind burger bar -fried onion rings rm9

Moving to the Grind House Burger which is available both in pork and beef patties; this pork patty with bacon, fried egg, caramelized onions, natural cheddar, crisp green of the day, onion slivers, fresh tomato and mayonnaise sells at RM 19 and served with some fries and salad. Bacon normally makes everything greater if you ask me. And with their soft buns, this lovely size was made even easier to eat.

3.grind burger bar -Grind House (1)
4.grind burger bar -Grind House (pork) RM 19

Next is the The JD Burger (RM 18) comes with all pork patty, secret Jack Daniel’s sauce, bacon, natural cheddar, crisp green of the day, onion slivers and fresh tomato. To be really honest, the pork patties were a little loose and bland. Certainly not the best pork patty I’ve had but they still strive fairly impressive.

5.grind burger bar -The JD Burger (pork) RM 18- All pork patty, secret Jack Daniel’s sauce, bacon, natural cheddar, crisp green of the day, onion sliverts and fresh tomato.

The fries and salad that comes with your burger were at good portion beautifully served although I’d really prefer more greens.

6.grind burger bar-Wild Shroom RM 17 (3)
Pork Burger is their basic, with patty, crisp green of the day, onion slivers, fresh tomatoes and mayonnaise; something that is good for fundamental savouring.
13.grind burger bar seksyen 19

Mushroom lovers, here is the best combination one can put in a burger. The Wild Shroom (RM 17) comes with either pork or beef patty, sautéed wild mushrooms, natural swiss cheese, crisp green of the day, onion sliverts, fresh tomatoes and mayonnaise.

7.grind burger bar-Wild Shroom RM 17 (2)

The cheese and sauces in their burgers adds on much moist to the burgers while their pork patties also vouched to taste succulent and juicy. The cheese is definitely a plus point in their burgers. A little softer and the patties would somewhat resemble meatloaf.

8.grind burger bar-Wild Shroom RM 17 (1)
Other options include their notorious Big Black Dog (RM 17) has got pork bratwurst served on pitch black charcoal bun topped with chilli pork, natural cheddar, mozzarella and fresh onions, served with herbed fries and a bed of greens. Laden cheeses atop is absolutely the clever move, it adds on so much sparks to the otherwise ordinary combination.
11. grind burger bar seksyen 19
12. grind burger bar seksyen 19

The grind burger bar serves alcohols and wine on top of soft drinks and tea or coffee. Plain water would cost you a ringgit, but my choice is always the hot tea. With very few but commonly popular choices of teas, I had my usual Green Tea at RM 4.50.

9.grind burger bar-green tea RM 4.50

Dessert are ample just to satisfy the sweet palate if not deserving any bragging rights, with Chocolate Brownies with Vanilla Ice cream (RM 12.50) served with slightly over heated brownie to magnify their actual forte- burgers.
