When mentioned “fried ice cream”, we probably think of those ice cream scoop encased in a crunchy layer on the outside with inside still icy cold. The term now deciphers differently with the cross of innovative global culture through culinary and what was known as the “fried ice cream”, now eliminates oil and the deep fryer. Instead, an ice pan or ice grill steel that is chilled to low temperature is used to “stir-fry” the ice cream. A comfortable and convenient way to do it is to make your way to Freshly Freeze at Nu Sentral Mall.
This ice cream chain from Thailand recently made their way to Malaysia with the first outlet located near the largest transportation hub- KL Sentral, inside the Nu Sentral Mall. This healthier version of ice cream is slightly more expensive but is obviously a lot more fun to watch and a lot fresher with the basic and ultimate ingredient – cream to start off as the basic flavour. From there, additional toppings are added or folded in to yield assortment of varieties. Expect a longer serving time but watch them fried up your ice cream is equally entertaining.
This dessert starts from RM 15 and goes up to as much as RM 27 or higher (depending on the choices of toppings). Eliminate having to vex your toppings and head straight to the recommended combination and this one is the Strawberry Cheesecake (RM 25) served with fresh strawberries and with compote to enhance the creamy textured ice cream that was folded with a slab of moist sponge for a fluffier texture.
There’s focus on the dessert in Freshly Freeze, and it is all served in a chic dining room with pendant light along with a large menu on the wall right next to the ice cream bar.
