Keeping this tradition alive with a twist of healthier ingredients like pine seeds, pomelo, dragon fruits, Korean snow pear etc, this custom not only bring people together into sharing bundle of good wishes in the brand new year to come, but also putting together a good mix of flavours that matches perfectly for the palate. Lou Sang promo starts from Rm 58++ – RM 268++ in either half or full portion and ranges accordingly to the choices of the Five Prosperity Lou Sang Promotions (Abalone Yee Sang with Pine Seeds, Salmon Fish Yee Sang with Dragon Fruits and Pine Seed, Salmon Fish Yee Sang with Fuji Apple and Pine Seed, Salmon Fish Yee Sang with Pear and Pine Seed, Jelly Fish Yee Sang with Pear and Pine Seed).

Moving to the soup, Double Boiled Cordycep Chicken Soup with Fish Maw and Dried Scallop is a good serving instead of the conventional sharks fin. Served gracefully in posh individual bowls, the intense combination of all nourishing ingredients were perfect and certainly fantastic since they also come with traditional believes to have tones of benefit to health.

Fish is that other must when it comes to the Chinese customary practice. It is said to sound similar to surplus so the New Year would lead to more gaining. And at the Ming Palace, this healthy plump catch of Steamed Silver Pomfret with Soy Sauce allows diners to savour the fresh and sweetness of the fish by keeping it simple and authentic when it comes to prepping this dish.

The harvest from sea did not stop there and once again the creativity is showed off with the fusion of sweet honey dew and prawns served as such of Stir Fried Sea Prawns in Honey Dew Boat. That chunky bite of prawns with balls of honey dew to freshen the frying prawn making it unrelenting and pleasant was fantastic. Also coming from the sea is the Braised Top Shell, Sea Cucumber with Dried Oysters and Fat Choy. This auspicious dish with prosperous symbol puts together classic ingredients that is traditionally familiar to the Chinese culture.

From the barn is their Stewed Chicken with Chinese Herbs, filled and packed with flavours served wrapped inside the foil as well as the Fried Rice with Waxed Duck and Liver Sausages in Lotus Leaves, glamorously showcased and garnished with spring onion to serve. Chicken manage to win my heart with the tenderness but since I am no fan of waxed meat, the later fall slightly short to my liking.

Bring the curtains down to end the meal with sweetness to represent all the good things that would come in the new year ahead. Bedazzled with cuteness overdose of lovely looking bunny in the Duet Sweet Dainties (Fried Ninko amd Rabbit Bun), paired with Ginger Tea with Glutinous Rice Dumping. Ginger tea matches lovely with the bun, balancing sweetness with the fiery pungent from the ginger.
