Nak Won Korean BBQ @ Taman Danau Desa

No longer a newbie in town, Nak Won has earn their crown at this area with their korean traditional cuisine with the good assortment of side dishes as well as decent pricing for korean BBQ. The only drawback to this place is probably what I believe where the core of frustration of all mankind begins; the parking lot.

At good times (like this visit), you can walk in without the long waiting hassle while other times will have to come face to face with the long waiting queue at the staircase alley. Depending on individual, some thought it was worth the wait.

The place is always pack with customers, and most of them come for the BBQ hence expect to smell like BBQ when dine in. The ventilating system was very basic and hardly meets the demand of the heavy smoke from every dining table. All flavours were much localised and have obviously earned many likes from returning customers as well as the new ones.

The choices of meats are diverse, ranging from pork to beef and ducks to chicken. The basic and must order is definitely the 3 ply Pork belly 삼겹살 (RM 23). Thick slices of pork belly grilled and attended by servicing crew to go with free flow fresh lettuce.

Also fantastic was the Duck breast BBQ오리 고기 (RM 38) which offers a different texture, leaner for sure but great with the aroma to go with lettuce.

The soup and stew parades a good spread of choices of which the Samgyetang 삼계탕 (RM 30) earned most of my admiration although it wasn’t the best ginseng chicken I’ve had.

Sundubu jjigae 순두부찌개(RM 15) came real short from my expectation for what was supposedly spicy and smooth didn’t quite impress me. It lack robustness and flavour, and was rather bland.

And lastly, the assortment of their side dishes were decent enough to earn thumbs up from most diners.

Korean Pancake is always a favourite for most korean cuisine lovers but this one fail to earn their stars especially when filament crab sticks were included to substitute actual seafood. Like other Korean BBQ restaurant, deserts are complimentary and side dishes are refillable.

Nak Won Korean BBQ has another outlet in Ampang but this one is fairly decent for patron around this neighborhood. Considering the good price (slightly cheaper than usual Korean BBQ restaurant) and location, it is a good place for family dining.
