Juadah kampung for Ramadan 2014 @ Chatz Braserrie (PARKROYAL KL)
It is becoming common for those working in city to not be able to head home during the Ramadan season, so it is not just a meal per se but instead, an opportunity to gather along with friends on this holy festive. And with a wide spread of mouth watering village style cooking, buka puasa (break fast) will be a lot more interesting at the Chatz Brasserie at PARKROYAL Hotel with their 4 rotations of “Juadah Kampung” daily menu. Offering almost complete range of village style cooking, diners can expect assortment ranging from vegetables to poultry, rice to noodles, and decent selection of seafood and desserts. Moving swiftly to the food, a display of super fresh seafood to impress diners.
The assortment of Kerabu offers appetizers that would instantly work the saliva gland and the varieties would also impress diners. Few to be mention would be kerabu pucuk paku, nasi kerabu, kerabu jantung pisang, umai ikan, and don’t forget the pasembur berlauk with peanut gravy. Julienne cucumber and turnip was fresh and juicy when I had it making this one of my favourite of the day.
For those who’d like something warm for starter, the Kawah selection offers a good variety of ingredients. We have the tulang, kambing, rusuk, ayam, perut, ekor, ikan tongkol, and daging tetel along with few other addition like the celery, potato, fried shallot and more just to flavour up according to your personal preferences.
The action station will showcase local Grilled fish and cockles with assorted seafood wrapped in foil with marinated homemade sauce which surprisingly wasn’t fiery hot despite the colour of the chili. Ultimately, fresh seafood determines the quality of the dish and this certainly brings surprise to the table.
The Famous noodle station yields our very own Malaysian local delight; mee rebus as well as other assortments of noodles with various fresh condiments and ingredients. The small portions of mee rebus, wantan noodles, shanghai noodles, or laksa noodles are great to satisfy for tasting because diners can enjoy all selection of the buffet treat.
At the Carvery station, there is the BBQ Venison Leg served with black pepper, mushroom and mint sauce. Also, how can we not take pride with our local satay for this would definitely impress the international guests at the hotel. Choices of chicken, beef or triple satay with condiments served with nasi impit, onions, cucumber and of course, the inevitable peanut gravy.
The iftar mains offers ikan main lemak nenas, tempe kacang panjang berlauk, telur ikan kari trunk, using gala goreng mamak, ikan during masak berlada, and the Rendang paru dan hati.
Matching all that with their kampung special, beriani tanam Daging served with acar buah, dhalca and papadom. My favourite is the Percik chicken roasted with rich herbs and spices marinated for one day and prepared with the perfect cooking time to give the moist and tender juicy chicken. A good dish to reminisce the flavour of home cooking.
A must to do is to nicely pamper yourself and allow some indulgence from the dessert range. Assorted traditional Melayu kuih like Ondeh-ondeh, kuih seri muka, lepat pisang, badak berendam, kuih lopes and much more. Behold durian lovers as the Juadah Kampung Special Gruel showcases the Bubur Kacang Hijau Durian.
