Frontera Sol of Mexico @ Jaya One

When thinking of Mexican food around PJ area, the one and only restaurant that would ever come into your mind is probably the Frontera Sol of Mexico in Jaya One. Having been around for many years now, they have pretty much established a reputation of their own with their energy and enthusiasm with food and culture. The place is cosy with lightings that are slightly dimmed to bring out the soothing and calming dining ambience.

Starting with the Top-Shelf Guacamole that is served with tortilla sombrero, the guacamole is amazingly tantalizing as starters. This avocado based sauce is filled with diced tomato along with chunks of finely chopped onion so the texture is perfectly to my liking.

Next is the Jalapeno Crab Cakes which reminds me of the Thai fish cake. Except that this has a more rough and coarse texture which I find it not too pleasant. It is served with roasted Jalapeno Remoulade which salvages the crab cake from being too horrible. The Remoulade is a condiment which is somewhat similar to spicy mayonnaise or tartar sauce.

We had the Jicama Salad which I fancy a lot thanks to the chunky texture of jicama. The turnips are mildly sweet, but with orange supremes and some capsicum, the taste becomes pleasantly refreshing.

Some would find the orange and avocado a weird combination, but I find this acceptable. Take note that this is not in their usual menu.

Moving to the main and something heavier, there is the Chicken Enchiladas served with rice and a tiny bit of beans, as well as some salads by the side. I thought the chicken is a little dry so I did not enjoy much of this texture.

Then I had my favourite Baja Style Fish Tacos and love the generous amount of vegetables and juicy diced tomatoes with the stunning slice of fish fillet perfectly battered and fried to give the rich crispy texture on the outside while keeping the moist of the fish on the inside.

My favourite of the night has got to be this flavourful Prawn Chimichanga which is absolutely awesome with the rice and beans. Alas, the taste of prawns were empowered by the strong flavour of cheese. This would make cheese lovers falling madly in love in this at the first bite.

Lastly, the Impossible Chocolate Flan to put an amazing closure to meal. This is a sticky, rich, sweet dessert that is to die for. This one here has got a great flavour for both the cake and the flan, but could use a little moist on the cake layer. Still I love this very much.

Drinks are served as well and this menu features their Watermelon Aqua Fresca. The tiny chunks of watermelon floating in the glass provides some chewing texture to this tangy and refreshingly sweet beverage, on top of the mix of watermelon and lemon juice.

great put up, very informative. I’m wondering why the opposite experts of this sector do not realize this. You should proceed your writing. I’m sure, you have a huge readers’ base already!

I really have not find real good Mexican food in KL. I am not very impressed with the food here. That’s probably I am spoilt np by those I had in California.

Habanero wings is a hot favourite of mine at Frontera. Love their chicken taquitoes too. Have not tried any main dish there so far. One of the very first places I’ve performed in KL actually.
