Eat and Drink China : Foodeverywhere with authentic Shanghai Dumpling

Shanghai has always been famous for their pau (steamed Chinese buns) when it comes to food ever since from when I could remember. The epic thing that I recall was the song by Stephen chow in the movie God of gamblers 3–Back to Shanghai. For those not familiar with the song, here is it.

I would laugh no matter how many times I watch this. So in Shanghai, here is an experience at Shanghai’s dumpling restaurant called Xiaochi renjia. Apparently, almost all the ‘pau’s in China are served in bamboo steamer and they would never be bothered to serve any plates.

Each steamer consists of 10 Shanghai dumplings, and they are slightly bigger than a standard bite size. Each bite wraps minced pork with superior soup in it. It was really oily and they really should have selected their choices of meat, probably using those parts with more lean meat instead of fats.

This dish is custom to be eaten with vinegar. And here in China, because the shop sells nothing but Shanghai dumpling only, the vinegar are placed in teapot for customers.

A tray cost 35 RMB, which is neither cheap nor expensive if you ask me, but if you don’t appreciate the food, then you might as well enjoy the sight.
