Lai Kong @ Sunway Mentari
Braised duck meat to go with plain porridge makes a satisfying meal in Lai Kong Sunway Mentari. Every now and then I return to this hawker center for this amazing dish. Served with fire beneath a tiny wok, the braised duck also comes with Mui Choi and tofu. As well as egg, and optional internal duck organs choices like the intestine, gizzards, livers etc.
I love this so much as there are so much ingredients in one, and each ingredient has unique taste and texture of its own. Other than that, take note the enticing chili sauce that is so inviting just by looking at the colour itself.
If not the duck stew, try this stall selling Hokkien noodle. It is palatable in huge portion, and complimenting it is the scrumptious chili sauce. Also Udon noddle is use to replace yellow mee, and hence better texture from the noodle itself.
As for the Chee Cheong Fun, it’s served with pretty diluted curry sauce instead of those thick ones with lots of coconut milk. Comes with some Yong Tau Foo, the curry sauce is intentionally served slightly bland to compliment the brine from the Yong Tau Foo. It is also not too spicy thus making it even more enjoyable.
Now for those looking for proper heavy meal, there is a Bah Kut Teh stall with very delicious soup, as well as amount of ingredient just nice for a person. Like other Bah Kut Teh, it comes with assortment of porks, ribs, and internal organs like the intestines. Served with white rice, I like to eat with some Barli drinks.
However, if hanging out in a group we always like ordering lots of food. The Sotong and Kangkung Rojak has got amazing chili apart from the other fresh ingredients. Served sprinkled with thick peanuts, it is lusciously inviting.
The food served in this hawker centre is averagely fair in prices. Most of which averagely ranges between RM 4-RM 7 depending of what you ordered. The Braised duck is definitely something worth trying.
